These maple chai pear scones will have you falling in love with the cozy flavors of autumn! The perfect blend of spicy chai, sweet maple, and juicy pears in every bite is a dreamy treat for crisp fall mornings.
Why I Love This Recipe
Scones have a special place in my heart, and these maple chai pear scones are like a warm hug on a chilly day. There’s something so magical about mixing aromatic chai spices with sweet, ripe pears!
While I’ve always enjoyed experimenting with scone recipes, this one might top my list. The warm chai spices, the baked pears, and the crisp scone edges all come together for the perfect bite of fall.
And that glaze! It’s the sweet maple kiss that ties it all together. The scones aren’t overly-sweet, so combined with the glaze, it all feels beautifully balanced.
Whether you’re making a lazy Sunday brunch or a quick weekday breakfast, these chai spice maple scones always hit the spot. And the AMAZING smell that fills up your kitchen while you bake them is just the cherry (or should I say glaze?) on top.
What’s In Maple Chai Pear Scones?
The foundation of our scones is a mix of all-purpose flour and bread flour that creates the perfect texture. And of course, we have our egg, milk, baking powder, butter, and salt to round out the standard ingredients.
Things start to get fun when we add the chai masala powder to give our scones that warm spice. Dark maple syrup deepens the flavor while adding a subtle sweetness.
And finally, the juicy pears! If you’ve been looking for fall pear recipes, let me tell you, this is the one. They bake up beautifully in the scones and pair so well with the chai.
If you have any bruised or brown pears, this is a great recipe to use them. You won’t even notice once they’re baked into the scones!
Tips and Variations for Pear Scones
These scones are probably even easier to make from scratch than you think. That being said, there are a few little tricks that will help them turn out as amazing as possible.
First, make sure you’re working with cold butter! Cut it into chunks, then use your hands to quickly work it through the dry ingredients until you get little pea sized pieces of butter. The goal is to work fast so the butter doesn’t warm up too much.
Next, you want to chill the scone dough for the full 30 minutes before baking. Even though it might be tempting, make sure you don’t skip or rush this step!
So why is cold butter and chilling so important? Because it keeps the butter from spreading too quickly during baking and leaking out of the dough. This is the key to getting tall scones!
Finally, let’s talk about spice. I like Spicewalla chai spice, but you could always replace that with pumpkin pie spice or even good ole cinnamon. You just want to use a nice warm spice to help your scones reach their maximum flavor potential.
And that’s pretty much it! As long as you follow these little tips, making chai spice maple scones is a breeze.
What to Serve with Chai Spice Maple Scones
- Apple Pie Oats — Keep the autumn vibes going with this warm-spice breakfast!
- Brown Sugar Pumpkin Spice Syrup — If you’re going to enjoy a delicious fall scone, why not pair it with an amazing fall latte?
- Mexican Baked Eggs — When you’re craving a sweet and savory combo, this easy breakfast is sure to hit the spot.

How to Store Fall Pear Scones
Scones can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for a few days or in the fridge for up to a week. They freeze well too, so don’t hesitate to double the batch and save some for later!
To reheat, I recommend cutting your chai pear scones in half and toasting them in a buttered pan. After a few minutes, they’ll be as warm, crispy, and irresistible as when they were fresh out of the oven!
