Description
Whether it’s a holiday morning or you’re just craving comfort food, sausage gravy pot pies topped with fluffy biscuit dough and served in individual ramekins are a cozy, savory delight!
Ingredients
Scale
1 pound (16 oz) ground sausage
2 tablespoons flour
1 cup milk
1 cup water or broth
½ teaspoon thyme (adjust to taste)
6 pieces of biscuit dough
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350F. In a large skillet, cook the ground sausage over medium heat, using a spatula to break it into small pieces as it cooks. Continue cooking until the sausage is browned and cooked through.
- Once the sausage is cooked, reduce the heat to low and add the flour. Stir it into the sausage, then allow the flour to cook for a minute or two.
- Slowly pour in the milk and water while stirring constantly to create a smooth, creamy consistency. We want the gravy a touch thinner than normal since we will be baking it in the oven
- Season the gravy with thyme, salt, and pepper to taste. Remember that the sausage already has some salt, so be cautious not to over-salt the gravy.
- Continue cooking and stirring for a few more minutes until the gravy is heated through and thickened to your liking.
- Spoon the gravy into 6 ramekins and top each one with a piece of biscuit dough. Bake in the oven for 25 minutes. Serve with fresh herbs and enjoy!
